This property has enjoyed the considerable investments from the Rothschild family and the quality of the wines over the last generation has been increasingly impressive. I’ve always written that if you can’t afford Lafite Rothschild, why not try Duhart Milon 2012, which is not far off the quality of its much more famous neighbor. Spicy, deep ruby/purple with notes of cassis, cedar wood and spice box, the wine is soft, round, juicy, medium-bodied and ideal for drinking now and over the next 15 or so years. C’est en grande partie grâce au travail de Lafite Rothschild que Château Duhart-Milon peut maintenant se vanter d’être 4ème Grand Cru Classé AOC Pauillac.
Elaboré à partir de 70 à 80% de Cabernet Sauvignon, auquel on ajoute du Merlot, le Château Duhart-Milon est élevé en fûts de chêne (dont 50% sont neufs) durant 14 à 16 mois. Il en résulte un cru corsé, rappelant le goût du fruit frais et puissant. Ses arômes révéleront toute leur intensité après plusieurs années de cave.
Château Duhart-Milon, c’est 22 000 à 25 000 caisses annuelles. La propriété élabore également deux autres vins : Moulin de Duhart et Baron de Milon, produits en plus faible volume.
